rest areas, get to walk my dog in a better environment, anyplace the truck fits at 11 pm, when every other place is full. Walmart lots, malls, industrial parks, or whatever else I find.

not all trucks stops are bad.. just avoid the larger truck stop chains.. i have found that most smaller mom and pop truck stops (I.e Lee-Hi Truck stop at the 195 on 1-81/I-64 and my new Favorite Simmons Travel Plaza @ 4 on I-85 in VA) are great truck stops.. Things stay clean and great parking...

hell i hate most truck stops to (ESP. PILOTS) but those little no name truck stops give me no problems at all

Three places I like to stop whenever I can get there, anymore...

Wilderness Crossing, Wittenburg, WI
51 T/S, Merrill, WI
Abbyland T/S, Curtiss, WI

Not part of any chain, and the food is great. For the area, the parking isn't bad either.

I like Walmart ok. The way alot of the stores like goodys is going out they are going to be alot of good parking lots to park in. I had rather park in something like that or a ind. park and stay out of the truck stops.

Anyone ever stop at Meramec Caverns off of I-44 in Missouri before? I stopped in there one time with my big truck and it was pretty interesting. Worked well at the time to take my mind off of trucking for a little bit. They have a huge parking lot, by the way, and are friendly to truck drivers.

I prefer to park where there aren't any other trucks around. I just need to be in a place where I can brush my teeth and clean up in the morning. I prefer Wal Mart parking lots because they're open 24 hrs. I'll go to a truck stop later in the day after everyone has cleared out to grab a shower.
