Amen on that one, you sit at the long table in the drivers area just like a family meal and the food has always been an excellent value. Everyone from the girls upstairs in the business office to the wait staff to the c-store clerks have always been extremely friendly. Full service fuel islands at self service prices, not many of those around anymore and the truck pumps are right out in front not hidden waay out back away from the eyes motoring public that we scare away. Not to mention, it's a truckstop owned by a trucking company so they really are there for the driver, not like the big chains that simply use the driver to pay for all the nice stuff for the 4 wheelers.
The Stage Stop in Boise used to have signs in the restaurant telling none drivers they could eat there but they were second in line behind drivers. Haven't stop there in years so I don't know if it's still that way. They used to be owned by the same people as Jimco in Ripon, CA, not sure if that one's even in business anymore.
The salebarn on 54 in Texoma TX,OK has good food and plenty of parking. It can get a little crowded and noisy on sale day but they welcome drivers.
Most all the Stamart travel centers in North Dakota are good stops. The big one at exit 66 in Fargo is huge, the showers are clean (the floors are heated), the restaurant is a bit pricy but the food is good, the travel store has just about everything and the drivers lounge is more like a 5th avenue cigar bar, very top notch.
I can count on one hand how many times I've eaten at a chain truckstop in the last 10 years and haven't found one yet worth going back to. They are all overpriced, the food is re-heated frozen crap and the wait staff acts like it's an imposition on their time to have to wait on a driver. Of course I have an electric skillet and inverter so I cook 99% of my meals right in the truck and can have hot, home cooked meals 3 times a day for less than what a cup of coffee and two eggs cost in a Flying J.
