Red face Accident history

I been rolling for for just over 28 months with not even a gnat colliding with my truck.

Now the other day I am involved in a freak accident...(hit solid object pulling out...apparently right rear of trailer clipped it)

So now as fate would have it a Preventable is gonna hound me !!! (Nearly sure they gonna can me)

This is my job...not good at anything else...

Any pointer to a good ALL 48 carrier out of Middle Georgia ??

Appreciate any input guys

Just answered my own question...made a bunch of calls to big companies

Regardless of your time as a safe driver.....should you get fired from a trucking company for an accident

no one will be able to hire you.

You are finished ....it appears to be part of the Industry Standard

Oh well

Uh...who do you drive for?

I've never heard of someone fired for one minor parking lot incident, especially when the driver in question has an otherwise impeccable record....

I have a good friend who had three(!!!) minor preventable incidents in three years while driving for Crete. All were minor, parking lot incidents, and one was as stupid as driving into a pole at a Wal-mart DC...and they never fired him. Not only that, he quit Crete, and is now working here at CWTL...

What makes you so sure they're gonna fire you?

I have called 3 major carriers to day just to get a feel for the situation.

Crete,Prime,KLLM

They cannot take a person if 'fired' for an accident regardless of how much previous time was

spent as a safe driver.

Learn something new everyday as to the world of driving

You talked to 3 out 3000 carriers....yup good sampling there. As long as you are honest about the accident your career is not over. It will probably just take a little more work to find that next job as many carriers are being more choosy who they hire now since there are so many experienced drivers out of work at the moment and freight is really slow.

So did you get fired? If you got fired....why worry about whether you are a recruiter for that company or not?? If there isn't a bridge left to burn....don't be concerned about their integrity, because they showed theirs by firing you for a minor incident....or did you knock down a building, and tear the back of the trailer off doing it??

Sounds like there is something not being told here B/C it's not normal to be canned for a parking lot scrape...And yes you will have a hard time getting in with good carriers ,because of the termination not the parking lot incident ...Reason is most companies don't want your last job reference being a termination ...I got termed in nov/07 for arguing over hometime and refusing dispatch ,so I could get home on time for a court case I was a witness in ,and all the better carriers said get on somewhere and call us ,because we can't hire with last job as a term ...

It would have been better if they let you resign ,so your usis file shows willfull resignation...
