Hey! I resemble that remark!!!!

I was thinking the same thing. News reporters are not required to know the difference between gross and net. My guess would be that the load consisted of about 44,000 of beer. The rest would be the empty weight of the rig. There also does not seem to be a shortage of beer drinkers, unlike the loads of orange juice I haul that can have as many as six stops on one trailer, or garlic where I may have 10 or 12 stops on one load, loads of beer are simply origin to destination.

But, no matter how much or how little beer, the fact that it rolled over suggests (very strongly) that the driver screwed up. If there were a possibility of the load shifting to one side, it would be more easily accepted, but even then, the driver went into the curve too fast. I don't know about Coors, but I've hauled loads of Bud that had cardboard seperators between the pallets, and it was virtually impossible for them to shift. It's also not that high a load that it would raise the center of gravity with any significant amount. It suggests that the driver was trying to gain about one second in an area where he should have taken his time.

I can do a thing too slow a thousand times, and most likely come back and do it again. But, if I do it too fast, I may not be the only one to get just one shot at it.

I haul a lot of beer. It's notorious for shifting, kegs are especially bad. Depending on the product, some of the pallets can be 6 ft. high.

None of which matters, it's still drver error.

Does Swift own Central Rerigerated?

A couple of years ago we had a local distributor dump a truck on the by-pass about half way around town. No ramp involved. It was a Budweiser distributor. Needless to say, a good time was had by all!!!
