Default Anybody else noticing an easier time trying to find parking?

Or is it just me? I'm finding a lot of places that used to be full by 6pm still with spots at 10 or 11. Fewer trucks on the road maybe?

Yeah, I've noticed it along with some people on other forums too. It's weird, one day the lot was full, the next it's half empty... hmm

Well... Let's see... You've got WH out of Wausau, WI that has laid off 340 people, about 300 of them drivers because the rates for dry van freight has not kept up with fuel costs...

Jevic has closed their doors completely...

Chizek has shut down all operations...

I heard something about Schneider, but didn't catch it all...

Werner lost either 3 or 6 trucks in NE today... The drivers were looking all over the lot for their trucks, and it seems someone took them while the drivers... ALL FOREIGN... and moved them a couple of miles away and lit them on fire...

How many O/O have parked their trucks because of the fuel prices....

I wonder why there's so much room in the parking lots.

Speaking on stolen trucks, A CFI truck and trailer was stolen from the Petro in Ft. Worth. Another one was stolen last week but was recovered.

On the bright side, this means the problem of truck parking availability is fixing itself .

I don't know when, but I was just told today. I called my brother and asked him if he'd heard about WH, and Jevic, and he informed me that Chizek is also shut down. Now, on occasion, I have been known to get the two mixed up, but not in the same sentence. He and I both pulled flatbed for WH 15 years ago, and better. From there, he went to J & R Schugel, and I went to ITC (sold to M. S. Carriers back in '98) I don't think either one of us ever believed that WH would park any of their trucks. Earl Schuette would never allow it, but I don't know if he's still alive. At any rate, he is the one that informed me that Chizek is out of the game too.

Trucking companies shutting down due to fuel costs does concern me, but I'm even more concerned about the "NEXT PHASE". Farmers will not be able to afford to work their fields because of the cost of fuel, and they DO NOT GET A FUEL SURCHARGE. As they go bankrupt, and farms go idle, we're going to see even more problems.
