'Points' on your license are the problem.... thats what will

mess you up.

One can always find a way to recoup the money lost.

Thats my main concern is the points.
i had a perfect record until this and i want to keep it that way.
my job is cool with it, i work for a small company. heck, i didnt even get written up or fired. and ive only been the 3 months.
but they told me to watch out for myself so i dont lose my license.

what im bummed about is, if i wanted to find a local job in a year or two, i can nolonger say i have a perfect record.
lets just hope this lawyer thing works for me.

That was my point...sad as it seems...just pay what you got to pay and in the end you will have overall protected your livelihood.

Its just the way the game is played...companies don't 'want' to fire people...the 'system' is what boots a fellow out.

Good Luck to you

well, i got the bill from the court. im suprised. even though i was sited for 63 in a 45 downhill, i am being charged with a 10+ and a fine of $380.
i though it would be much worse.
im still going to fight it to avoid points. i will keep you posted on the success (or failure) of fighting and winning.

I was one of the IDIOTS who got caught on I-70 in Indianapolis last year where trucks of a certain size were not allowed. The OTHER drivers who got caught were to lazy to take the detour, I DID pickup a load in Indianapolis. Which didnt matter to the cop who pulled me over when I showed him the bills. When I asked him, WHY trucks were not allowed he told me: The lanes are too small for the case an AMBULANCE would have to pass while I-70 was under construction and they had no emergency lane. I said: Good one, then why do you guys pull ALL those trucks over were there is NO EMERGENCY LANE????? (Next to me where about 10 other trucks pulled over.) I said this is just a BIG MONEY MAKING SCAM!!! I got an ugly look and he left. So I decided to fight the ticket in court. The fine was something over $200 and they didnt decide if it will be points or not. I fought it with a lawyer from the truckstops, which told me they get over 90% of their tickets dismissed. I of COURSE was in the under 10% bracket. Now the fine was ANOTHER 450$. I will make sure I wont use their service ever again!

That restriction went on for 7 months during the "Super 70" construction on the east side. I had heard that they were being a bit flexible on ticketing drivers in violation............for a while. Until a big truck went through and had an accident. The CMV driver was DUI. You were probably one of the unfortunate ones to wander through there after that incident.

anyone ever used a lawyer to beat a ticket like that.

i'll be calling one. how much should this cost me in fees.
can i actually beat this?

til now, i had a perfect 10 year MVR

thanks, mike
So..does that 10 years include from the time you got your license at 16? How long have you been driving truck...and how many trips have you made over the Grapevine?

The speed limits on the Vine have been in place for a lot of years...my first trip across the Vine was 1981...and the speeds were the same then...just not as many lanes each direction then, as there are now.

Most of the lawyers that advertise can get it knocked down. All California, and all the other states/counties, want is the $$'s. Couple of years back I got a ticket in Texas, going West bound down that long straight hill before Fort Stockton for 89/70. Got hold of this guy over the internet and he came back with it would cost me the bail plus $400, no points just didn't have to get a ticket in Pecos County for the next six months.
What pi$$ed me of was the front pilot, who was trying to get outa the way, and the rear pilot, that was trying to keep up, didn't even get a warning
