Well my first experience with auto's, was very pleasant, to say the least, I may find it hard to go back to shifting, I'm spoiled now, WOW what a big difference.

I drove an auto for awhile and hated it, I like to be in control.
Last truck I run that got good mileage was an 03' 379 pete with a 475isx and a 13 and 3:05 rears loaded was gittin 7.8mpg and m/t 8.3mpg.

Automatics are sure nice in rush hour, but when its winter time, unplowed powder, and multiple p/u's and deliveries in a city, I'll take the manual transmission every time.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough -- I don't like automatics when I'm spinning my wheels stuck in an unplowed shipper/receiver's driveway. A manual transmission is much better at rocking a truck out of a stuck situation than an automatic is.
