The Senario,,,
1, wife and i show 153k in income
pay 15k in fed taxes
pay 4600 in state taxes
pay 4200 in property tax
total of $23,800 paid in taxes for 07'

2, co-worker showed 65-70k in income(wife does not work)
pay 0 in fed taxes
pay 0 in state taxes
pay 0 in property tax (renter)
total of $0 paid (he said he literally got back every thing he paid in 13k)

He has a wife and 6 kids

Now i'm left scratching my head going WTF!!!!

Then the economic stimulas package comes out and we will be lucky if we get the $1200 for a married couple but for sure he will get $3000 for his family.(last time i checked those 6 kids did'nt pay any taxes)

Anyhow, I thought I would ask hard working middle class America what you think about this senario.

BTY, we do feel blessed for the position we are in but on the flip side we want all americans to pull thier wieght and no one household should carry a much bigger tax burden then the next. It was not easy getting to this point after both of us working for 30 years only to get screwed by the government.(one reason I'm not a democrat)

Can I adopt 3 or 4 crack babies and raise them on $23,800 and maybe get 600 to 1200 a month from the government for doing so????

Gotta go, stations are out of gas!!
PEACE OUT, 8) 8)
FUELMAN
You both enjoyed $59,200 extra over your friend, and that is minus the $23,800 you paid in taxes, and also minus $70,000 for your friend's income.

You are here, complaining about paying more in taxes than a majority of Americans make in a year, along with complaining about the stimulas program that your friend will get 3,000 and you will get NOTHING. You made too much, cut-off is at 75K.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

So let me guess....even making that amount, you are just getting by paycheck to paycheck, arn't ya?

"New drivers get help here"  8) 8)

You get a tax advantage for owning a home don't you? Your neighbor has rent for something he'll never own, but tax does still get paid on the property.

Neighbor's income puts him in a different tax bracket and has kids.

I won't dog you for makig 150+, good for you. I hope to make that this year being single with no home  I'll pay more than you and the wifey on my taxes!

Lets all hate the ones who make all the money and have the biggest tax burden. I'd be pissed if the gov't took that much of my hard earned money. You all want a fair solution?

Read up. Buy Neal Boortz's book on the fair tax.

It isn't about what's fair, even though the tax system isn't great, it's what we have.

It's about a man who come on the board, whining because he had to pay taxes, and complaining because his neighbor didn't. Unless he has access to what his neighbor does, which I'm pretty sure he doesn't, he has no idea what kind of income his neighbor has, or how much in real tax he did or didn't pay.

Then he complains because he doesn't qualify for the stimulus package that the government is putting out.

And all of that complaining about these taxes on a truck driving board.

No-one is bagging on him because he makes over 150K per year.

We are bagging on him because he's whining about his taxes. And guess what? About this time next year, he'll be back crying, because of all of the taxes he has to pay. Boo freckin hoo.

If he is looking for advise, maybe some sound investments will help him.

If he's just whining because he thinks we care, he should think again. People pay the proper taxes for their situation.

If he feels like he overpaid, let him complain to a CPA, or better yet, call the IRS. They're the only people who can advise him for next year taxes.

All that he can do here is whine. No-one has his records, and can tell if he paid the proper amount of taxes, or if he missed a lot of deductions. None of his records are here on this board, so no-one here can advise him correctly.

Unless he willing to follow advise that the proper people tell him, he'll end up repeating that process over and over and over again.

So giving the man advise is a waste of time. I've done as much as I could with this single post. The rest is up to him.

You're right that it isn't great... in fact it really sucks and is inherently unfair!

I'd be pissed too!!! Even though the "Politician Protection Act of 2008" is a complete joke since they're borrowing more money to give to middle income and poor people (I'm in that group) to go out and "blow" on the economy, I'd want to get a piece. Especially since I just paid more taxes than 90% of Americans.

Tell that to the OP or anyone else who had to write Uncle Sam a check this year.

In most cases, payments will range from $300 to $600 for individuals and $600 to $1200 for joint filers. Taxpayers may receive $300 for each qualifying child. Payments could be less, depending on tax liabilty and Adjusted Gross Income. Phaseout reduction begins at $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.

This is from the IRS website. The way I see it, if fuelman can find a way to deduct another $3000, maybe he can make the cut off at $150,000 for joint filers. I'm not an accountant. He just missed the cut off, assuming he and he and his wife are filing jointly. Maybe find more deductions some where.

Who's doing the hating here? Sounds to me like the original poster is the one doing the hating, looking down his nose at anyone that isn't doing as well as he's doing.

I have no problem with the guy making 150 grand. But to crack on someone that isn't doing as well as he is, is the epitome of elite snobbishness. And the crack baby comment was way over the line.

Sorta kinda back on the subject, I wonder how much Bruce Wayne pays in taxes?
