Did you ask why they are making the change...Was it the companies idea or the drivers?

Get away from it if it's percentage. Seriously. It SUCKS! I hauled coils working for 26% for a week. That was enough. Dont be suprised if your days suddenly become alot longer too. Only way I would consider doing it again is if I was making ATLEAST 50%

A little more info.. I've been hauling for them since August I guess. I've been hauling their own stuff but we're bout done til next harvest-August. I like grain haulin and was considering getting a truck of my own or leasing 1 of my dad's which he's not currently using. They approached me bout keepin on haulin for them with their truck til we go back in august on their stuff again. I'll haul dryer to mill, elevator to elevator, or farm to market whatever i can get. They want to do it on percentage thus my question. I like workin for them cuz they treat me right but I gotta do somethin til August and I don't want to drive a tractor and do field work.

You answered your own question. Why pay you by the hour when you can get 25% of $0? No loads=no pay, and they don't pay you an hourly rate to sit around.
