When I went for my test drive with Crete I drove around town, put about 15 miles on the I 10 (was in Phoenix) and then back to the yard. Backed into a hole and disconnected the trailer and pulled the truck out.
End of test drive. Pretty much the same with Cardinal.

yes......very good advice....!!!!! that's what i was taught......i just need to get my timing back...... All you need is to have some jackass get too close to your rear bumper on an upslope, and you neglect to use the trolly brake (aka: Johnson bar)....and roll back into the jackass....its gonna be your ticket and "preventable accident". Just be sure the brakes on the trailer are adjusted properly before doing this....as in a really good PTI. You could get a nasty surprise if the auto slack adjusters aren't, and the previous drivers who had the trailer were idiots too lazy to check or write the trailer up.

I really don't think they would put you in an unfamiliar truck then on a hill with cars behind you and risk an accident. Every truck is different and will take you some time to get it down so your smooth.
As far as a hill goes, just keep your foot on the brake and let the clutch out till you feel the engine drag a little then let off the brake and you should creep ahead. Good luck! |
