After looking up Tualatin Valley Transport I found this little article. Not sure if they are a company one wants to drive for.

"As a former employee of Tualatin Valley Transport, Inc., a trucking company based out of Hillsboro, Oregon, though actually physical location of office and trucks is in Portland, Or, I have seen first hand how they treat their help.

I was hired on as an HOURLY driver, worked my hours AND ALWAYS more (required), but they would only pay straight pay. They did not believe in 'overtime' pay of time and a half for hours over 40 in a work week. When I brought this up with them, they became irritated and I soon found myself out of a job...for trying to get them to pay me what I was owed.

They came up with a bunch of made-up crap saying that I had been written up 4 times in two months. Funny, I've never seen anything before, or even now. When I asked to see these 'write ups', they said they were not at the Portland location, but at the Hillsboro location (their home.) Personally, I believe they had not filled out anyting, and the 'write ups' were either made up or hold incorrect information.

They cheat their employees (have been doing it for years according to other drivers there....) but as they did not want to make waves and lose their jobs (always the threat), they remain silent. Well, I'm turning them over to the authorities and agencies that handle such matters. I hope they learn their lesson.

A TIP: If you're from the area here, don't work for them."

Not sticking up for them but if they are based out of Oregon they are not required to pay overtime. I am assuming that "Dave" took the job knowing what the pay was

Can you point me in the direction of this article, or put me in contact with "Dave"? When I worked there, there was a Dave that I rode with a couple of nights, lost contact with him, would appreciate it.

Please clarify why a company based in Oregon does not have to pay overtime?

Truck driving does not fall under Federal or State labor laws that require employers to pay time and a half after 40 hours. E.g. Old Dominion, an LTL carrier, does not pay OT until you reach 60 hours. Most non-union companies follow suit. Do you know of any OTR companies that pay you OT after 40 hours?

Guess since I have always been in the OTR world of trucking I was not aware of the rules of local trucking. Good info to know when one is coming out of the OTR world and looking to go local.
