thanks Rubberducky. I can stick out anything for 18 months. If they dont work out after that, then I can find another company. I just need to get trained and Schneider is supposed to have one of the best schools for that. Im not going into this thing blindfolded. My eyes are wide open. THere are good and bad things about EVERY company out there. You get out of it what you put into it. I plan on putting a LOT into it.

Congrads----Start studying for all your written tests--air brake, etc.

asking questions is key to learning, always ask questions, then ask more questions, then double check the answers.....alway.
then remember much of what they teach in "school" isn't always so --out here in the real world....be prepared for your- driver finisher to set you straight on many things, and show you shortcuts on others.

Ive been studying this thing for two weeks to get my permit. Im a pretty studious person so I hope I can apply what I know about retention to this stuff. This seems like it is SUCH a lot to learn and I know it isnt going to be easy to learn it as well as put it in practice. Im just ready to get to the next step in the process and get to learning!

Not trying to bum you out. I just know what I've been told. I have family members who worked in the office at SNI, who moved on to other jobs because of the downsizing that was going on.

Trucking is in a state of disrepair right now (as I'm sure you're well aware). People are finding quite quickly that they can't count on anything anymore when it comes to trucking. Will that change? Sure. When? Who knows.

If they are downsizing their administration then that is fine as long as they give me miles once I get on the road. If they dont have but one dispatcher, then that is fine too. Im going to get my training and my CDL license. Whatever happens from there will be fine too. My life and fate is in God's hands. I am happy to be "conditionally hired" and will be proud to be a Schneider driver once I get through the training.

I havent heard anyone else talking about them "downsizing".
Ahhh don't mind the Rev. He's just trying to get enough posts to make moderator status.

I had to 12 months with my first company. I think I would rather do 12 months in the County Jail then re-live those first 12 months OTR. I know one thing, I would make more money in Jail working as a trustee.
Those first months are the toughest. Your going to get into situations you have no idea to get out of. Your going to take wrong turns and end up out in the middle of no where on a back country road.

I'm only joking. SNI would be a pretty good starter company. I've worked for a couple different company's over the past couple years and know a guy that works for them now. He just finished his first year and is pretty happy with them. If you have any questions, PM me and I can give you his phone number.
