At our quarterly safety meeting our maintanace manager and the local Ryder shop (they do all repairs, inspections, oil changes, etc) said they experiened similer occurances. Fuel filters not making it through maintanence cycles. They said it was a result of the new Ultra Low Sulfur fuel that is out and mandated in 2007+ vehicles.

We ususally get 7-10 new trucks each year (in a fleet of 92) and get rid of the old ones, but this year we're not getting any because of increased maintanence costs.

These guys are just trying to be funny. The hood is actually in South Central Los Angeles. It was immortalized by a 1991 film starring Cuba Gooding Jr and Ice Cube.

look, pre 2007 the hood was next to the engine under the rotating splint rod

but with the new emission standards it was relocated next to the stock gasket liner to make room for the now required benzoil peroxide sensor.
