Try your local HHG agent(Allied, United Van Lines, North American, Mayflower). They will take you on as a helper and my use you to drive on local moves. By the time you turn 21 and go out of state, you will have three years experience behind you. When I worked for Allied, that is what they did. Alot of our summer help would get thier CDL when they turned 18 and work thier way up from there. By the time they turned 21, they were lead drivers and assigned there own crew.

Hmm that sounds like a good idea but I got severe asthma too so I'm kinda hesitant about the HHG stuff but I will give it a try though! Thanks Double R

I may have me a job lined up, pulling containers locally driving a 98 Mack. I prefer a Volvo though!

you already found something??

you're lucky you don't live in Massachusetts! I got my CDL-B 2 years ago when I turned 20, and no one will hire me because of my lack of experience!!

It's been awhile since I been here, well that deal fell through. The guy wanted to put me in the truck but his insurance company requires me to be 21. But I did email a local lumber company they run Sterlings. I'm waiting to hear back from them but so far no reply back. I'm still keeping my hopes up thats for sure. I do got a question if I get my class A can I still drive a truck that requires a class B???

Yes, if you have a Class A you are good for Class B trucks as well.

Good new good news!!!!!!!!!!!

1. I got approved for a scholarship

and

2. My local lumber company will hire me, they told me I need my Class B with air brakes but didn't say how old you got to be so I'm gonna assume 18.

Good rule to follow in everything you do;

Never Assume

If your plan/goal is to go OTR (longhaul) once you turn 21 be prepared to be told that any local driving experience you have does not count and that you will need to go back through CDL school again since too much time has passed between you getting a CDL and taking your first OTR job.
Not always the case. Yes the Large Companies will, but not all companies will. I was out of trucking for 7 years, and all the Super Carriers did want me to go back to school. I been back on the road now a month, no school.
