That would really "bite" if someone forgot to secure them.....

Orange processors in FL use the same kind of rig to empty the fruit out of the trailers.....

I've hauled possum belly trailers as well. The rig is not secured in any way. Gravity keeps it against the backstop.

The pictures above show the trailer disconnected. We used to have to bounce the trailer to remove all of the product. Yes, the trailer bounces on the dump.

There are dumps in Canada that are long enough for a set of short doubles. Twin 26' trailers or something. These have a unique kind of door system.

The whole things drives forward onto a dump, then the backstop lifts up and the trucks backs up to stop. The lift goes up. As the doors of the front trailer open, a door at the front of the rear trailer swings inward and the back door of the second trailer opens normal and all the material dumps out. I kid you not.

I don't have pics, but the papermill in Bennetsville, SC (can't think of the name off hand) has those lifts, but they lift the tractor AND trailer to dump. It's a pretty interesting site to see.

In fact, I'd like to see something like that at most places I deliver to, especially Wal-Mart DC's

Easy answer - you can put more cubic feet of stuff in a trailer that doesn't have the hydraulics and extra framework.

*shrug* Whats the big deal... dump mine like that every day. The bars on the top are only for show, the trucks never touch em. The whole Super B train fits on.

LadyNorth it aint no big deal but the only downside i see is you can only dump where them lift things are. To where if you had a dump trailer you can dump it anywhere you want and when you want.
