Default Excelent Air Brake Manual

This is a must read/ comprehend manual that B.C. uses for the test.
Some of you remember Rocky Mtn. Pro. This is what he uses for his students.

It looks more complicated than it is. Just start at the beginning, it's simple at first but it's a foundation that is needed to comprehend the more complicated systems at the end.

Too much misinformation out there as evident by the " Hooking " thread.

OUCH!!! THAT hurt!!

But, I guess you're RIGHT! I understood it all so WELL back during school! But, I guess I chose to just let it slip away! I sure didn't do nobody no favors on THAT thread, eh???

Anyways, thanks for the link. I guess I'll have to do a little "refresher" study! Is there stuff in here about those OLD parking brake systems?

I didn't mean you

It wouldn't hurt for everyone to revisit an air brake manual, I especially like the part where the brake adjustment, or lack of, is explained.

An Inch of YOUR LIFE A small brake adjustment has, no doubt saved lives...

I grew up in the mountains, on the other side of the "hill" from Rocky,
LOTS OF TRUCKERS have died on that hill, it's like 18 miles long... It's one hill where if you need a foot on the brakes, even 5 psi your gonna smoke, it's just too long to ride your brakes @ 8 %

Pages 24 to 30 are the "old" non spring brake trailers.

Page 31 is the modern spring brake equipped trailer.

I have to agree that is a very useful link.

Colt, thank you for posting that information. That air brake manual is not confusing or convoluted like the air brake chapter in the old “Bumper to Bumper” book. I have been studying and refreshing my knowledge after a 10 year layoff from trucking and this manual is really good stuff.

If you have any more manuals like that please post them. I for one, would very much welcome it.
