Default Day time or night time trucking?

Which do you think would be better? Day time or night time trucking? I would think one advantage of night time trucking is there would be less traffic on the road, and if you sleep during the day it'd be easier to find a parking spot at a truck stop.

I was just thinking about that subject this week.

Lately on my return trip on my big route I've been driving during daytime hours. It SUCKS!!!!!!!

Driving in the day time is for the birds... You have all sorts of traffic, idiots that don't know how to pass or merge....

Night time is smooth sailing! Once your body get's used to it, it is the only way to go! Only on the interstate though.

I do a lot of driving on two lane country highways and have had a number of close calls involving deer. Although even in the day time they can be pretty hard to spot out in the country. Cows are a little easier to spot.

That is basically how I liked to roll. If I was heading west I would liked to start real early (2-3 am) and shut down before the sun would set low enough to be a PITA.

If I was going east I usually did not start until after sun up and drove later for the same basic reason.

Depending where you are driving, I'm very far north and you have to watchout for the animals in the dark... Some of them drive too

If you can sleep during the day and don't mind the idiots who don't turn their high beams off at night then night driving is great. Personally i find it hard on my eyes which tires them out fast.

My favorite time to drive is sunrise on Sunday mornings, especially if there is good weather.

I am a daytime driver. I have tried the night driving but I could never get used to it. I would always be tired when the 2-3 am hour arrived no matter how much rest I got. Now, granted there is A LOT more traffic in the daytime hours but I don't mind that much. I just take my time and all is well.

Theres certain times at night when people get tired spells, esp around midnight and in the hours b4 sunrise. Thats when you have to watch out. I like night driving now that I got used to sleeping during the day. Stop for a nap when you are fading and have fun listening to XM or talking on the CB to the other Vampires. Dont expect to find many places to eat at night, so prepare for that and enjoy the solitude and if you get too lonely, find a front door and a conversation. Easy milage.

It's not always what you prefer, but rather what the schedule dictates. If I had my choice, it'd be starting out at about 4am and finished by 2-3pm.

Well said, i like to leave out early if possible, that way i can stop earlier in the day and find a PLACE to park, then watch others try to find a hole to squeeze in.
