Default Question about how to use scales at truck stops

Ok so this is kinda odd....but i'm clueless

Once you pull on a scale (i.e. a CAT scale at a Pilot) what do you do? Do you go in and see the cashier for the print out? Or do you do something else?

stop on scale, press the button on the sign, tell the clerk your info, go in and pay them.

Some scales are different but they usually have instructions

At most scales after you pull on, there will be a red light, you will stop when light is red, it weighs, light turns green, and a number will show. You go inside, give them your number, pay, and they give you the scale ticket! Good luck!

P.S. This is how most of the scales I use in my area work, there all different but none require a college education to use. BOL!

Read the directions.

Every scale I have ever been to at a truck stop has directions about what you need to do posted either before you pull onto the scale or at the other end once you are on them.

While many scales operate the same way, there are enough exceptions out there where you need to pay attention.

The only constant is that you NEVER slide you tandems while sitting on the scale.

Unless that is some option in the system that is not true. I have been to a few truck stops that have a booth set next to the scales and you take care of everything right there while sitting on the scale. Yes they were CAT scales.

There are some scales where they either 1) can only scale on set of axles at a time, and/or 2) you receive the directions and exchange your truck # and company name to and from the scalemaster through a CB radio channel.
