Funny how that works.

But not uncommon at all!! I had that problem as well when I started out!!

My advice??

Get the whole concept of "Backing Up" out of your head.

Get a new perspective on the matter. Think on terms of using your tractor to "push" the trailer into it's desired position.

Start from the rear tandems on the trailer.

Where are they??
Where do you need them to be?

Now, mentall, start envisioning in your mind what you need to do in order to "push" them where you want them to be.

Keep working at it, you'll get better. We all sucked at it starting out!!

we have one place where you have have to back around a building on your right and then back into a bay that is angled the other way from the way the truck is angled, there are rails on each side and you have about an inch clearance from your lug nuts. the first time I went there it took me about 10 minutes to back in and the guy says, you must be new to driving, it sure took you a long time. I said yep, this is the first time I have ever driven a truck, I thought I did pretty good.

Thanks everyone. That's alot of advice, which is sort of why I want to pull flatbeds. But since flats have to back too, any advice on how to back with fixed tandems?

Thanks

That's the best advice I've heard anywhere! Seems like it would work anywhere except in court.
