i would continue to use your clutch most drivers that dont cant if you get the oppertunity find a trk with 100000+mi move the gear shift lever
it shouldnt be loose than check clutch it should have resistance after free play if its loose not just in straight line but side to side the previos driver did not use clutch the pressure plates in the clutch are wearing unevenly ive watched them be replaced with less than 250000 mi on them i wont go in to tranny damage its self explanitory its not your dads truck anymore its high tech equipment that dosent require abuse to be operated good luck keep asking ? find your way
