Well, roadhog, I also go to grocery warehouses. Well, except, I go to the same one every night. :P I see the same faces, try to speak the same language  :?. Some nights, they run ahead of schedule, some nights, some have called in, and they are running behind. Stinkin grocery warehouses. :P

No over-crowded truckstops or pickle parks to deal with
No standing in line down in El Paso behind 20 other sweaty guys waiting on a shower
No lot lizards, panhandlers, crackheads, or DOT banging on the sleeper
No buzzing reefers
No municipal idle restrictions

No Opti-Idle waking me up every 15 minutes
No newbies backing into me
No Qualcomm going off in the middle of the night

Go local and you'll always get a good night's sleep!
Yea that's all great except for the fact you have to work for a crooked union.

I saw these things that you put around your neck after wetting them for folks who work outside in the heat. I can't think of the name right now whicks makes searching for them a little difficult. They were like a foam bandana type thing that when damp would felt cooler than the surrounding area and abosrb heat from the body and make you feel cooler.

Ohio,..first, its a bummer  you work for a company who only cares about their massive profits, and not about keeping the driver comfortable and well rested,...aside from that.
I would look into a solar powered fan for the daytime when your are sleeping/resting. Some of those panels generate enough to power a fan.
As far as night time, try to park as far away from other trucks as you can,...open your bunk windows, and place a fan where it can blow on you, concentrate the air flow on your upper body, make sure you have good screens (damn bugs!!).
I lived in Florida for 5 years without A/C, I slept under a fan like that, and it worked pretty well, not as good as A/C, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Good luck,.. try to stay cool 8) and rested.

On my running days I have had little problem so far keeping cool at night, but this is only MAY. I keep the Air Conditioning running full blast all day, with the windows rolled up. The sleeper and all it's contents are icy cold at the end of the day, and sometimes it is cold enough that I need to wear a sweatshirt while driving. I prefer it that way anyway, it keeps me awake and alert. With the sleeper that cold I crawl under my blankets and go to sleep, kicking off the blankets during the middle of the night. It is usually just starting to get warm in the cab when I am getting up in the morning.

What has been difficult is the 34 hour resets, including one in Arizona with daytime temps over 100 degrees. For those I need to run the truck some, or pick a truckstop with an air conditioned lounge and restaurant to spend a lot of time in.

And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
