Heya all, i have been reading up on all i can to make sure we make the right choice..My wife again is thinking about teaming..

I am just wondering how real these examples of income monthly are or if they are close to it

Say we go with Interstate.. they pay starting teams .41cpm.. and they pay practical not HHG..

so say we drive 3k miles a week.. ( this is low for a team so i hear but lets start here to get the whole picture )

3000x.41= 1230 combined... x 4weeks in a month = 4920 Gross...

5000x.41= 2050 combined....x4weeks in a month = 8200 gross...

and just "IF" 7000x.41= 2870 combined....x4weeks in a month = 11480 gross..

Now i know there will be down weeks and ups.. and so on and so forth.. but are these #'s close to real? for husband wife teams?

We have 2 h/w teams and they are close to $160k a year combined as company drivers. $.525/mile

Who do you work for? I've neve heard of teams making that much split.

.52 is alot! but i could handle it lol.. but IDC wich for us being new and need trained .41 1-3 and 36 .42 and then 6-2yr .44 and ... seems to be the best we can find atm..

So to say the #'s i wrote are not far off realistic?

No, your numbers are fine.

As a team you should get a min of 4000 miles per week, every week, and most weeks should be between 5 and 6000 miles.

I know in the late 90's my father and I ran team for Florilli and split 34 CPM now may not sound like much now but in 97 was decent money we routinely ran 24K a month. Now remember this when you are running team you are going to get those loads that require that you have NO TIME to sight see and will have to run hammer down all the time. Also expect to bail out solo drivers who are behind on their runs and can not make it also.

Just to clarify. Not all companies run expitited freight with teams. Many do .. but not all companies. For example, Watkins Shepard will let the team run super solo if need be.

I have a posting that describes running 16 hours and parking 8, which keeps the team moving without having that "10,000 mile stare." (doing a 5-5-3-3 rest 8 pattern If you really look at this it works under the new rules too ..)

This allows for sleeping with the truck parked.

The numbers are realistic.... 8) Really, they are. And as long as you know and accept that some weeks will be up and some down, and you don't spend the money faster than you make it.....you'll be OK.

I drive LTL for Southeastern Freight Lines. Most LTL pay teams that much or higher, split all miles, it is 100% drop -hook so all you do is get high miles. Cool thing is, we still get weekends off. Everything is on a schedule, so there is nothing stupid done, like sitting in a truckstop all weekend waiting on a load. Check out some of the nationwide LTL carriers for the real $$, especially for H/W teams. Add in local paper, Fed ex national (watkins) was paying teams $.565/mile, add that with coast to coast miles and you get real money talking,

Was this starting pay? I'm trying to decide where I'm going to go once I get my year of experience...fedex national ltl hires u with one year and they will hire me out of the west memphis ar terminal. Getting paid that and running 5 to 6K a week would be awesome!
