I will be in Irvine, CA this weekend, for a Monday delivery. Are there any laws that say I can't park in one of the areas next to the beach? Something off the 101 maybe?

It is ALL designated as a truck route from Newport Beach down to Dana Point. I'm pretty sure you could find a place down there to park, but I've never been down there with my truck. If you can find a place to drop the trailer, (maybe at the consignee?) it would be easier. I've parked my bobtail in mall parking lots (near the outer edge) many times with no problems. If you find a place that looks good, ask permission from the owner/manager. Also.... come back here and let me know! I get down there occaisionally, and may need a place to "layover" someday.

golfhobo- thanks for the advice, I may just have to check things out myself. I did mean the PCH, I was in San diego a few months back and it seemed like there were spots to park that would be out of the way, but I wasn't sure about the LA area. Guess I should hit Google and scope some satillite views.

Truck parking in Orange County is scarse. Most shipper/receiver areas down there don't even allow parking during closed hours. Beach Access parking is closed to trucks, and posted as such. Most of the city streets along the PacHiway are posted "NO TRUCKS"
In the 80's, trucks used to be able to park at a pull-out on Pac1, just south of Seal Beach. That pull-out was the original staging area for trucks delivering Ammo to the Seal Beach Weapons Depot...long since closed. In 03..last time I made a truck delivery down that close to SealBeach, it had concrete barricades across the entire pull-out, with No Parking signs through-out. Best bet Pax..call your receiver...ask if they allow overnight parking. Otherwise your limited to parking out by Dizzyland...where there is truck parking, the Port of LA / LongBeach..where there is minimal truck parking, or the truckstops out in Ontario CA (TA's suck...but are better than some of the other choices). The old Martinez Brother's truckstop might be accessible again..I don't know..haven't been in that area since early 05.

Best bet is probably to park at the TA / EAST in Ontario and call Enterprise to rent a car. About $35 for one day, but you can see all you want of the beaches in Southern CAL in one day.
You can also go to Hollywood and other touristy areas once your in a 4wheeler! Another suggestion is to forget the beach and park at one of the casinos on I-10 near Indio. Win or lose, the parking is free and so are the drinks! Just be sure to get up early to get to Irvine by 5 a.m. local to beat traffic!

On the other hand, you could go to the WEST one, and probably find all the entertainment you need for the day! And, be real careful with that word "Buddy!" As for "biking," if you find a "buddy" to go with, and he doesn't have a spare, you can go down to the beach area and there are many places to RENT one. Have fun! (but don't tell Cold Frosty Mug that you did!)

Don't worry, I meant buddy in purely a platonic sense. Just got a report from another driver that finding a spot at night on a weekend at either of those T/A's is next to impossible. Guess I'm staying in Kingman for a bit longer.
