plus more secure for simply fact that hackers go after windows based system then mac. Now if you do accounting type stuff GPS and play games. then windows is better at that. But If you do get vista MIN you need 1gb ram 2 is a lot better Vista is a ram hog.

I just learned of this new technology in laptops coming in 2008.
You may wanna wait on buying a new laptop...for one of these newer ones.

From what I hear SP1 is going to come out soon so that will help with the Vista bugs, Microsoft denies it but Intel says they will release it around Oct or Nov? I have had Vista from the day it came out and have had no problems EXCEPT for the Fairplay crap on Media Player.

try letting it run overnight so the initial indexing service can complete. then shut down fully and reboot. if that doesn't work, then disable the aero gui. to do that, right click anywhere on your desktop >personalize >windows color and appearance >open classic appearance properties, and choose a different color scheme, then ok. no need to reboot after that.

People hate Vista so much that Microsoft only sold a measly 20 Million copys of Vista in the first month after it's release.......... (Microsoft sold 17 Million copys of XP in the first month).

Hp and Compaq still recommend XP Pro and Toshiba and Sony have gone with Vista as the primary OS. Dell is also moving towards Linux..... so that could explain why they are not following with Vista, looks like Dell is going in a different direction to get away from Windows and MAC.

I had bought a new laptop with Vista on it and returned it within a few days or so...because I hated it so much...I could spit nails.

If I could have gotten away with it...I would have shoved it up the Best Buy salesman's butt far enough, he'd have to have it surgically removed. It was on his "sales pitch" I was even willing to give it a try.

I took a loss of a 15% restocking fee, and lost the Tech support charges I racked up in hopes of making something of that piece of crap. All said and done in the end of my valiant efforts...I took the loss rather than "settle" for a crappy deal.

Went out and bought a HP Business class laptop, with XP Pro...and (using the Taco Bell gesture) I'm good to go.

true thay did sell more BUT more people are getting computers each year than the year before so compared to when xp came out vista numbers are about the same. also some people just have to have the latest and greatest even if it realy isn't any better and a real memory hog too

xp works fine with 256mb (more is always better) but will vista..? so IMHO you spend money for a new os and then you will spend MORE money to upgrade the ram just so it can run the same.. and it will not run all windows programs and hardware..? (i run some windows 95/98 programs on this xp and i didn't need to go and find some kind if patch to do it..! just load and go)

dell went with vista and stopped using xp & xp pro until thay started getting all the calls from people that didn't like it so two weeks ago thay started letting you have xp & xp pro again. the people have spoken

It still amazes me how people have forgotten what a PITA it was when XP first came out. It too required better hardware, more memory, more space and was slower than Windows 98.

They'll get the bugs worked out of Vista eventually and when their next operating system is released the whole thing will start again.

I have a new PC at home with Vista on it. So far it's been running perfect but it is a little slower than my laptop with XP.
