Most times stopped by DOT in 1 week
#11
Have been inspected one time, it wasn't done by the DOT though. Mine was done by a PUCO officer (Public Utilities Commission of Ohio) doing random inspection on hazmat loads. I got the Full inspection, he even broke the seal and jumped in the trailer to see how they had it loaded, the location and to see if they used dunnage to protect the skid.

I got a job with Chippewa Motor Freight when doubles were first authorized in Illinois (1969). The rig was designed to be within an inch of the length limit. The fifth wheel could not be slid, etc. On my first trip out of Chicago, I was stopped at the scale and measured. The next night, I was stopped at the same scale and measured again. I said, "Your tape measure or mine?" They didn't think that was funny, but at least they quit stopping me.

Its profiling but I'd bet a box of donuts, that 9 times out ot 10, they'll find something on that inspection.
I dont know how people can ride with so much crap on the dash or in the truck. I'm sure we we've seen trucks with stuffed animals , empty Mt.Dew bottles , flaming skulls and silly little stickers either on the dash, or stuck to a window. The truck is not my home away from home, my home where my family lives, is my home. I always have to laugh at those guys with crap all over their dash, crap filling up the passenger footwell and obscuring the little porthole, obnoxious signs and stickers all over their truck and a green fog following them down the road because they haven't showered in a year. They're the ones bitching to high heaven about being constantly pulled over and inspected, while I roll containers(which all DOT have an extreme prejudice about)through Banning with nary a hiccup. (Actually, I was finally--for the first time--pulled into the bays at Banning just last week. Passed the inspection with flying colors because I'm a professional driver and I rule. 8) )
