Default Stryker Antennas

Im just looking for opinions on stryker antennas and user satisfaction.
Also I have dual K40's, a Galaxy 44, and upgraded the factory freightliner coax to coax I bought from the TA.
So far im getting out 10- 15 miles on a good night on flat terrain.
Im pretty satisfied and switching the coax made a big dif.

Ok...would the coil Strykers outperform the K40's?
I heard a few opinions out there saying they would.
Just curious om what you guys have to say.

thanks,
TKR

but he says K-40's are ok, but he prefer's his Brownings.

better call myth busters on this one..... not to go into detail, the arial part of the antenna is mostly for recieve, the lenght is used to tune your coax and radio to a low swr, the trasmit comes out the feedpoint and not antenna itself, so the longer the whip the more recieve you can collect from the air... I can tune up a predator or a k40 or a coat hanger and as long as my swr is low I can get out just as far on any of the three listed here, I might receive better on the predator because of the longer whip but thats bout all is better, any good quality antenna will work just as good as a predator, save your money and don't get sucked into believing a 10000 watt antenna is bettter, besides the coax your using is only good up to about 600 watts anyway, its and old advertising trick used to get truckers money, they prey on you not knowing any better and it works, I transmitted 26 miles on a three foot coat hanger at 4 watts and have transmitted 6 miles on a 12 volt dash light connected to the coax... nice try but I know better than that....

might of been driving somewhere , there is nothin wrong with the predator antenna, its really nice on the recieve end and tunes up nice, there are several type of antennas to choose from, like a firestik ( top loaded coil) and then the k40 trucker (center loaded coil) and radio shack has a base loaded coil with a 58 inch whip so it can be tricky in buying the right one.. I always said the best antenna was the old 102 inch stainless steel whip with the big spring and the ball mount, and its just hook up and go and the whip itself can handle endless amounts of power some say 50000 watts and finding a amp and coax to try that hmmmm but for the most part any good antetnna will perform on a truck, the predator or k40 are both good and will perform for long times to come, some prefer like the brownings, wow thats some old school who is that guy heeehehhe .... some like the francis whips ( i personally hate them) and it goes on... the predator is a good rugged antetnna, I mysellf prefer stainless whips over a fibreglass with the wire wrapped up it, those tend to pickup more manmade noise than a stainless whip and fibreglass can break easier, so see I like tough rugged stuff and the predator is that, but i would not go buy it because it said 10000 watts and others say it gets out better, I would buy it for its longer whip and its ruggedness.....plus it looks kewl, but looks are not all what makes a good antenna........in my book there all about the same in performance but they differ in durabilty...... you did allright...

I know the guy that makes the striker and I have only used them for years now. It is a very good antenna, and unlike some of the others like it, the striker is a solid core antenna with a welding tip type of rod coming out of the coil. Very hard to break, and guaranteed for life. They can handle any amount of power you can throw at it. I have used all types in the last 30 yrs, and my only choice is the striker. Go to OK city in the old TA and ask for TOM, and tell him Outlaw sent you, might get a deal...lol
Hey, what happened to spell check....lol

Thanks Uglymutt..

So with what you said, you cant go any higher then 600 watts due to the coax anyways.
Thats a pretty big lesson learned, as you see alot of antennas at the TA/Pilots out there boasting 5000 watt antennas...hmm
Are there differances that one should look for in coax then as far as brand?

What other things can i do to boost my range besides a linear.
I already have my radio peaked.

I can attest to that...those things are solid to the core...id be afraid to lose one of those to a thief as one of my other antennas got ripped off my truck only to be replaced by the thiefs old antennae... lol...i can laugh about it now.

i can speel
