Sometimes it,s so loud I drive the wife out of our bedroom. Now my doctor and my wife want me to do some sleep study thing. I guess this can lead to more serious problems down the road like high blood pressure and heart problems. So I called the recruiter at USX and asked if I could put things on hold until I got this checked out. She said it was no problem but something in her voice sounded like I just killed my chances with them and maybe got a lable of some kind. I,m told this could take a month or more. Damn Irish luck of mine! Any advice you guys on this site could give would be awesome. I do listen. I,m not giving up on becoming a pro truck driver. I,ve never had to work so hard so hard to start any other career before and I,m more determined than ever to make this work.
I would not say anything till I was diagnosed with something, whether it was sleep apnea, or any other medical condition. Now that you have said something I can guarantee you that they have a note in their computer that you have sleep apnea and if it turns out that you do not have that condition, they will want you to now jump thru hoops to prove that you don't.

Now I am not saying that you hide medical conditions / information from an employer but until a condition is diagnosed by a doctor, one can assume that you are speculating and it would have been best to keep your medical information private until you know the FACTS.

If you plan on getting life insurance, do it before the sleep study. Right now your not diagnosed, once you are the premiums may jump as much as 10 fold depending on the policy.

I got in insurance and the premium was gonna be $69 a month. They wanted a physical so I had one. 3 weeks later I had to do a sleep study to make sure I didn't have sleep apnea so I could take muscle relaxers for severe leg cramps when I slept. Turns out I had sleep apnea so I couldn't get muscle relaxers because they would make the involuntary muscles that cause you to breath to relax to much. Most likely would be so relaxed I would die in my sleep.

The insurance company decided they wanted that physical I took earlier on their physical form so I took it to the doctor to fill out the form. He apparently put on I had sleep apnea even though it was after the physical and the insurance had my first 3 months payment but was waiting on the form to to cash it and make the policy effective. The short of it was the insurance company decided I was a risk for life insurance and raised the rate to $683 a month if I wanted to be insured.

So I suggest if you plan on an insurance policy get it before the sleep study.

I hear you guys. I thought the same thing. That maybe I should have kept my mouth shut and just went ahead with everything. But my luck being what it is I probably would have been found out and canned for being a liar. And god forbid that I doze off at the wheel and take somebody out. Better I just be on the up and up and get this out of the way now. That way it wont come around and bite me in the arse later.

F' em. You heath is the most important thing.

Please don't get the idea that US express is the best thing since sliced bread; There are many, many other companies that are superior.

I mean, really.

Thanks ,I agree. Nobody is gonna look out for my health better than me. Except maybe the wife. But equally important to me is my integrity as someone who can be counted on to tell the truth. Even if it means I may screw myself in the short term.
And by no means do I think USX is the best thing going. Just the the best so far that will take on someone just out of school.
That,s why I said in a previous post that the one positive thing about being held up is I can do more research and find something a little better. Maybe , maybe not. I know I have to pay my dues somewhere and that somewhere doesn,t have to be forever.
