Cop must of had issues or something, they had a bus do that in the Chicago suburbs a couple of years ago and got wiped out by a 70 mph Metra train.
Bunch of kids got killed, all because the bus driver didn't get the hell off the tracks.
Id fight that on safety grounds, get hit by a train or go threw a stop & go, easy decision.

Yes, you were at fault. The citation was correct. You should have waited until the intersection was clear in front of you before proceeding forward over the railroad tracks. Since there was a car there (which happened to be a cop), then the intersection was not clear.

My thought here is..and it may be crazy...But...Why did it take you so long to get started, that the light changed on you?
Even in a tanker with surge going on, I can cross a set of 2 tracks and clear an intersection, before the light changes. :?:

It was clear and he was 15 feet ahead of me...

There's 4 sets of tracks... and the only ones going through the intersection was me and a police officer... Them lights changed pretty fast...

Aaaaaaaah. Red Light violation shouldn't be that big a deal...unless you have more on the record.

Reckless Driving, Speed to fast for Conditions, and 15 mph over are the biggest disqualifiers on traffic tickets. School Zone tickets are big as well.
