You only depress the clutch half way. One of our instructors said "it's ballet, not rugby." "Shift - one - two!" Its not pushing the clutch to far, its the time it takes to push the clutch to far!

Anyone who ever drove a stick shift car before going to school is used to dropping that clutch pedal all the way to the floor between gears. If you do it in a tractor it'll engage the clutch brake and not let you to the next gear.

I just finished school last Friday 3-2. We all had this problem when we first started. Practice will cure the problem. Our insturctors gave us a list of the most common shifting problems. We were to evaluate ourselves and determine which was our worst problem and work on just that one until we were comfortable, then move on to the next one. Our shifting improved very quickly.
The state examiner only said one of us had problems shifting, but they still passed. You will be amazed how quickly it will come. BOL Hans the mi_rookie
