I got it sealord. So if i want to quit a company and the way am going to do it will get me abandonment i will make sure it is worth it. Leave that truck in the middle of now where stuck in the mud up to its axles,

 

And get taken to court for recovery fee's. :roll:

 

And possibly charged with auto theft, depending on your states statute concerning theft.

 

I think if I would have woke up the next morning and the truck was missing I would have called the company and then reported it missing.

Police reports are handy little things. :wink:

 

Just imagine you hired someone to drive for your comapny.... I'm just saying two wrongs dont make a right...

I just got to Slidell, LA to pick up an abandoned truck. This is the second time I have done this. I have to take it back to atlanta term. Why don't you people if you quit take it back to the terminal. I know whoever truck this is got abandonment. And also the pay that I receive by the hour to come get the truck comes out of there last paycheck. If there is that much left...... If you quit at least take it back, it can ruin your record if not.

 

So does aluminum foil over qualcom work ???? And I can understand why people dont take it back to the company when the say we'll get ya back to the terminal "eventually" B/c they know yer goin to quit and then they know they can run u anyway but by the terminal if I was there dispatcher I would run that person who called me and said there done I would run there @ss off and maybe get them to the terminal maybe a month after they called me. So ya wonder why people just quit & take the truck back to there house or wherever they stay :roll: makes since doesn't it what would u do let the dispatcher take advantage of you for a month or 2 after u said yer done or would just say screw it and go home but if aluminum foil over qualcom works then I'd cover that eye in the sky up and hammer down to the terminal

 

none of this makes sense to me. If someone wants to quit there is nothing stopping anyone. There will be no eventually it will be now. Nobody forces anyone to accept a load, and if I wanted to get back to the terminal than they would need to find me a load to the terminal and no place else. I think the word "no" is the most unused word there is.

By the way I was playing around with the Qualcomm and I saw there is a way to sign off, I don't know if it really works or what though. I was just going to do it so I don't get woken up in the am with their fleet messages. I swear sometimes they think we are machines or something and don't need to sleep.

 

It all depends on the company. While I would never abandon a truck I can see why a driver might want to.

As far as just saying "no". You could be setting for quite some time. It all depends what routes the company has in relationship to where your last load was. I think a much better approach is to tell your dispatcher you want to resign and start routing you to the terminal where you can turn in your truck. If he/she gives you a hassle talk to the safety director or personal director.

The few leases I had that had Qualcomm all could be turned off. They would still receive messages just wouldn't beep.

I agree with paragraph 1.
I dont think you can sign off over the QC, but if you try and it works, let us know:wink: there is a way to disable it by finding the power supply in the fusebox and disconnecting it, or better yet- adding a switch in line :wink:
