I'm back to my old name Brown67. Has this thread gone completely off topic?

Looks like it. Next time you see your brother, ask him if he knows the Airbus handshake. If he doesn't, go to shake hands with him, but instead of grasping his hand, grab his thumb like an Atari joystick and start moving it like you're playing a video game.

This is funny, because Airbus aircraft have joystick type controls.

Talk about livin' in a perfect world, just try to get on full time with brown now.

I have an uncle that worked for brown for many years and is now retired. He makes more now from his pention that he did when he was working.

It's a great gig if you can get into it.

We both just got our W2's from Werner. I'm ashamed at what we made there. Now you know why we are not longer there.

I made 33k gross my first year there and the 2ND I trained and made 65k that last year...You only make good $$$ as a trainer there ,and for the lost sleep and danger you put yourself in with most new drivers you train 65k isn't really that good especially when a solo driver that averages 10 miles a month at Werner can go to Crete and run 3k a week at 41 cpm and make about 50k without sharing a cab with a student .

last year I made $45k with knight and this year I hardly cleared $40k. Left knight in sept, took 3 weeks vacation before I started what was supposed to be a major move up in my career and fell flat on my a$$ , Then went to Dats to do LTL, and am currently still the FNG covering the sick or vacationing fulltimers.

I wish I had started UPS when I was a young man. I started when I was 26 and just couldn't keep up with the young guys, did it for a year and went up half the board on the waiting list for drivers, but just couldn't handle it anymore. I still regret it. Brown was very good to me and I was proud to work there.*sobs*

Do not have all the paperwork in yet, but I was deep in the 6 digits for 2006, somewhere in the 110,000-115,000 range as a company driver.

5 days a week with maybe 2 Saturday shifts in per month if the plant I was pulling to had a 6 day week. 400-450 miles per day and about the same in gross pay per day. Paid by the hour not by the mile, as quick as an 8 hour day if things go smooth and as bad as 10 hours on a rough one.
Of course paid flat hours which was always well in excess of the actual drive time if you keep the drivers door shut and just time your stops around your pickup and dropoff points.

I never toss my #s out there to impress or 1 up anyone else I just like to get the word out that risking your life on the highway and all the associated sacrifices that goes with driving for a living does not have to go hand in hand with 30,000 annual incomes. Do that to start and get your feet wet, do not total anything, including yourself, and then go chase the bucks...................
