Question #1
In 2003 I was involved in an accident. I was t-boned in a parking lot. I did not receive a ticket. The other driver left the scene and I provided the trooper with his tag info. Nothing further happened. This information does not show on my complete dmv record that I recently purchased from an online company.

Next, on 01-19-2005 I received a ticket for 68 mph when the limit was 45 mph. I took an online course to keep the points off my license. On my dmv record it does say "adj withheld" dated 02-17-2005. I assume that "adj withheld" means adjudication withheld. There appears to be a column for points (labeled "pts") which is empty.

How will this affect my employability? Yes, I know not good, but how bad is it?

I took a physical and received a two year certification. My blood pressure was close to the limit. Probably too much caffeine, at least I hope that was the cause as it was not a previous problem.

So the question is, if I get hired and the company does it's own physical does the new physical override the older one? Obviously that would be great if I again get certified for two years, but not if the new certification is for less than two years due to a high BP reading. Of course if the company does a physical to verify my dot medical card but does not issue a new one then it probably does not matter.

As to your second question:

Forget about which physical will prevail, and start addressing the problem NOW!!!

I was in denial of my blood pressure problems, up to the point where it was almost too late!!! There ARE drugs out there that you can take for high blood pressure, and still drive.

Embarking upon a driving career is a sure ticket to raising your B/P!!!

The work is often all too sedentary, and all to stressful.

Deal with it now, or it will deal with you!!

 

As for question 1, The company I work for can not hire anyone, and has to let go anyone that has a speeding ticket 15 MPH over the posted limit due to their insurance company policy. As for the defensive driving, I am not sure how they will handle that due to the fact that it obviously is in fact on your record even though it shows deferred.

Question 2, you will undoubtedly be required to get another physical regardless of what company you do go to work for.

This will not affect you at all.

This one is the tricky one. Since there is nothing specific on your DMV as to the offence I doubt it will be a problem of any kind.

Keep one thing in mind. Once you have a CDL you can no longer take a traffic course to get a ticket tossed out.



Yes it does, in so far as the company you are working for is concerned.

As pointed out though, since your BP was borderline do yourself a favor and start taking care of it now. You might be able to avoid having to go on medications, having a heart attack, or having an early death.

SNBC hired me with 4 points on my license and a speeding ticket from 2005(only ticket) that I got because I was late and speeding to an academy class. 89 in a 55, I was lucky enough to get it pled down to 79 in a 55. Granted there were some tense minutes while she 'talked with her supervisor', but it happened. I don't speed anymore, not in my pov and certainly not in any kind of truck.

 

You are lucky Rsco. My insurance company would not touch you with anything 20 over the posted speed limit. I just found out that they won't touch anyone doing over 84 mph regardless of the posted speed limit. I had to turn down an applicant last week who had 3 tickets. One was 19 over the posted speed limit. They said it was too close to 20 and of course the other tickets showed a propensity for breaking the law. I don't understand why anyone would risk their career with such reckless behavior. This guy can't buy a truck driving job. He told me he hasn't been able to find anything because of his tickets. One other guy I recently interviewed had a ticket for 25 over. That was his only ticket, but because of the excessive speed, the insurance company would not assume the risk.

 

As for number 2:
I have high blood pressure.
And take Lisinopril to controll it.
As far as the physical goes, all the co requires is that I pass a there drs test.
Due to being on meds for it I can only get a 1 yr card.
But no matter what they require Still keep in touch with your dr about it!
Had to change meds twice when I started driving.

 

Gman what's your companies rules. Is is that fast 'ever' or do they ask X tickets in Y amount of years?

You don't state what your weight is, just that you're borderline high BP. Dropping your BP could be as simple as losing weight, not a bad thing. When I first started driving, I lost 20 pounds and 20 BP points. If you know when you're gonna have a BP check, don't consume coffee or other caffeinated beverages, also not a bad thing to do anyway.
