Default NEWBIE W/CRIMINAL CHARGE

I RECENTLY GOT A FELONY CHARGE AND HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET INTO DRIVING. HAVING SOME DIFFICULTY FINDING A COMPANY WHO WILL GIVE ME A CHANCE TO EXPLAIN THE CIRCUMSTANCES BEHIND THE CHARGE. ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN GIVE ME SOME ADVICE OR AVENUES TO TRY. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

By and large, the circumstances of the felony charge or conviction are going to be deemed irrelevant. It's there, it's on your record, and the circumstances don't matter.

Might try an outlaw company, but if I were you, I'd look for another occupation.

Default NEWBIE W/CRIMINAL

A felony charge will only be diluted with time, like ten years or more. Some
never. OTW, what Useless said. BOL

Whats the charge for? And do you currently possess a valid CDL?

Good luck trying to explain child pornoraphy or something of that nature.

BTW- The "caps lock" button is conveneiently located on the left hand side of the keyboard.

Strange that you should mention that, BC!! Is it just my imagination running wild here?? It seems to me that the recent felons who have posted here, wanting to know about getting into driving have had a propensity to shout with the cap locks!!

Hey, I'm sorry about the CapsLock, it's just that I also do tax returns for a side business and everything in a return has to be in caps.
I can also see that there are some people on the message board that are perfect and have never in their lives made any mistakes. Well I'm sorry that I stepped on your perfect world you Holier Than Now people.
To the ones on here that are here to help, I again would like to thank you for any helpful information you can give.

Dood.... they were being straight with you. Having a Felony in this line of work is a no no. Some companies won't even look at you, others ( depending on the felony... 5 to 10 years )

As far as the "Holier Than Now people" comment, I use to baby sit people like you. So Yes I have never put myself in your situation because I used my brain.

Ussless gave good advise... look for an outlaw company.

PEPSIMAN,

I have no beef with you; I'm just stating the realities here.

Personally, I believe that we have a very flawed system of justice, where innocent people are deemed "criminals" by prosecutors who are more interested in arguing an abstraction than they are in the true pursuit of justice. Now, I don't have any idea what your situation is; you have not discussed that.

In the end, though, none of that matters!! If you have a felony on your record, many doors of opportunity in the trucking industry will be slammed shut in your face. I didn't write the rules here, but the realities are none the less the same.

Some outlaw companies will hire felons, but you will have to run as an outlaw, often times in trucks that are poorly maintained, and operated by companies that have established records of non-compliance.

That type of information is shared with DOT's in many different states; consequently, you can be expected to be pulled behind the chicken houses on a regular basis, and when your felony conviction shows up when the LEO runs your license. (and that WILL happen, you are going to be subjected to very in depth searches and scrutiny. Given that these outlaw operators offer extremely low pay, that time will reduce your check by even more.

Now, as I said, I don't know the circumstances of your conviction, but I would hate to see you spend thousands of dollars for a few weeks of training to get a CDL, only to have you discover that you are essentially unemployable in the industry.

I do not know of ANY company that would pay to train you, other than CR England, and if you will do a search on CRE right here on this forum, you will quickly discover that you would be FAR better off operating a "Will Work For Food" franchise.

Sorry to disappoint, but that's just the way it is!!

I've gotten some interest from Werner, anybody have anything to say about this company. And I'm sorry about the attitude, but this whole situation has been one big nightmare. Erroneous charge that is going to stick and a whole lot of $$$$$$ has been spent on attorney fees. So I'm a little sensitive about someone just taking it for granted that because I have a charge, that I'm one of the worst people in the world.
