My company plans to send me to Canada this weekend. Is it true that I can cross the border with just my original birth certificate? They told me I don't need a passport if I cross by land. Is there anything else I should be aware of that is different in Canada then in the states?

Re: Going to Canada
what do you want to know? The speed limit is in KM/H instead of MP/H. Now you didn't specify what province you are going into. Western Canada has alot of hills but most of Eastern Canada is flat. We don't have great truck stops in Canada. There are a few flying j's but not too many. Mostly just rest areas where you can go clean up in a washroom if need be. Canada is a very beautiful country and if you get a chance to stop in the major cities do so: Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Regina, Toronto are all very nice cities!

I think they just got strict on the Passports, as I've just traveled out of the country (by air though).

Having your birth certificate and a valid ID (license) always worked for me.

Make sure your tractor has a 244" WB or less

I thought they just passed a law where you needed a passport? I also thought it was for coming back in the country. I am not to hip on this info though.

I used to be able to go into Canada and all I ever needed was a birth certificate or Driver License.

But I am Canada restricted so I lost touch with it.

Canada does not, and will never require a passport. The problem is getting back into the states. That is where you will need a passport next year. CBP has stated a FAST card can take the place of a passport. IMO, a FAST card is actually better than a passport.

Since when did Saskatchewan turn into a city? That's a pretty damn big city!

BTW, DUI's will prevent you from entering Canada.

...and try not to laugh when they are stamping your paperwork. Truly a "rubber stamp operation"

I'm curious, why are you caught up with the wheelbase deal, we can run here with even a 100 more than you say Canada can? I have been in Canada with 260 in and more and never had a problem. Where can I find about Canadian wheelbase, give me a link so I can read for myself so I am more informed?
