I bet bush planned 9/11 so that he could have the TSA come up with a giant bill that included background checks for hazmat endorsements. Everyone works for Bush, and Bush comes up with every law after all.

I carried a very high security clearance for years in the Army, and the FBI has a substantial dossier on me as a result of that security clearance, not to mention the fact that my father was a nuclear officer in the Army as well. But yet despite that and the fact that they rapidly renew my passport.... gee, I get to pay some more money to some "buttmunch" to get the X next to the T on my CDL.....

Its all about the money, thats all.

Anyone who thinks that the only person who would steal or hijack a truck with hazmat in it is going to try to get an endorsement to a CDL....is a moron. The one's that hijacked the airlines didn't bother getting multi engine jet licenses..... gee, go figure.

And, since they are willing to give "certain immigrants" a 2 year waiver on the issue....alot of good it does to make us jump through hoops.

"Government Intelligence".....an oxymoron at best.

I have to agree. the High way watch program we have to take now is free, and it cost a hell of a lot more then a freaking background check, but its not run the government, so they arent fleecing us for money. I wonder how many good hazmat drivers we will lose because they cant or wont pay the ransom, I mean fee.

we renew our haz mat every time we renew our license which i think is every 5 years now. Luckily our company pays for the background check since he wants every one to have it It cost us about $94 and we are to start ours about 3-4 months in advance

you will get a notice in mail 3 or 4 months before your expiration date, you can apply on line and pay it with a credit card, it will give you the locations where you can get your fingerprints taken, it doesn't have to be in your home state, it just has to be at an approved location, there are several truck stops that do it. there is a Flying J near me, but they only do it on Thursdays from 3to5 pm. how convenient

There is a brochure I got from DMV that has the full list.

this will show you what would disqualify you

maybe rape, arson, or robery makes you a bad person, but it doesnt make you a terrosist, having a hazmat endorsment isnt going to help you commit any of those crimes.
