How can one have mor ethan 100% turnover? Also if that was the case then why are they're enough Swift trucks on the road to obviously bug you so not everyone must run away... which means the drivers must like something about the company... especially the ones I've met (and they're maybe what 1-2% of the entire company) that have been with Swift for years. This is quite simple. I realize you are new to the industry and judging from your post are obviously quite naive. Let say, for the sake of easy math, that a company has 100 driver positions but has to hire 300 steering-wheel holders over the course of a year to keep those positions occupied then the turnover would be greater than 100%. I hope you enjoy your tenure with Swift, and please do not run me over when you are "grabbing gears" through a parking lot.

You know what gets me. People constantly complain about how bad Swift is, who knows how many have actually worked for Swift. If your going to come up with stats, you might want to back it up!
I personally had issues with Swift, yes, but do I think they are a horrible company, no! The issues I had where my own and the DM I had. No one who has posted on this board who has slammed Swift can honestly say that their job is actually perfect. When I worked for the company, they took care of me, and I never had any real problems until I got stuck in a dedicated position. Another thing that I need to mention is the fact that it is made to sound like ALL Swift drivers are bad! I hate to be the one to break the news, but EVERY company has bad drivers. Maybe before pople knock a company, they should instead, work for the company and form their opinion. I, because I have worked for Swift, have the earned right to say what I feel because I know what goes on. Just my $.10 in the subject. To the original poster, go for it, and make the best of what you can because it is a good starting point. If you love working for Swift, then great! If not, then you will have more opportunities to work for other trucking companies!

Do they pay off HHG? Yep. +100% turnover rate? Yep. .26 cpm? Nope, no thanks. Not even on a bet or a double-dog dare. That's proof in the pudding enough for me.
Also I know that regional/local is not where the $$ is.. its in OTR. Not that trucking is mega $$$ but OTR is where the best pay is.
![]() 100% Turnover... Uh, yeah, good math there guy! When I was in training, the turn was actually around 68%. And it is likely that any company is going to have a high turn over. The trucking industry is cut-throat and that leads to a high turn over. .26 CPM... Well, that may be the case, but if you are trying to get a start, it makes someone who is coming in more likely to get a job. Not all companies are going to hire someone who is new. Not to mention, it is up to the driver to make the best of their situation. Going dedicated pays higher, going teams pays higher, and local pays higher. Life goes on, and people move on once they get their experience!

I started this thread and it does seem that there are a lot of people without experience with the company who have deep seated opinions of it. I will be starting out of Gary, In. within the next two weeks. I need the job and I need otr time. Of all the companies I have contacted they are the only option left. I have never driven a semi on snow or ice; though I have driven a 20' box van through some blizzards. I am not up to date with the new HOS and I'm sure my DM will help me out here. My hometown is economically DEAD. There are NO JOBS! Even if some of the rampant negativety is true; it doesn't deter me from an opportunity to better myself. I can put in my time and move on if I find I don't like them. Life is a series of compromises. There are no perfect jobs. There are no perfect companies. In every job I ever had pay was commensurate with experience.
