that will depend upon your trainer. You will be out for as long as HE wants to stay out. And if he wants to go home you better hope he lives near you or you will be staying in a truckstop in the truck while he is at home visiting momma.
I was lucky, my trainer lived in the same city as I did. BOL to ya.

Swift tells you that while you may make it home during that 6 wk period don't plan on it. I wish you luck with swift I went to their school in Millington,TN. And here I sit waiting for a mentor for 2-3 wks not fun and im beyond broke. I will most likey be moving to Transport America.
Good luck

Same with me. My trainer lived about 10 miles from me.

Good luck That is part of the reason why I didn't go to Millington for my training with Swift.

My mentor lived four states away from my home. I got lucky, and we had time on a run he let me stop for a few hours to visit.
Generally, you can usually get home once, more if your mentor is on a dedicated account near your house, but they tell you to be prepared to not go home, and that's the truth. Up to about a few years ago, Swift's policy was to keep the students as far from home as possible, because there were too many that changed their mind and stayed home last minute if they got by the house on a mentor truck. They've slacked up on that quite a bit since I think they finally realized that keeping a trainee away from home intentionally wasn't going to fix the retention problems.

In troutdale oregon, they get you home after 3 weeks with a trainer. never had a problem there. But that was 10 yrs ago. By the way, what does mentor mean?
