Default Proper company training?

Its me again the thorn in the ass. What are the company trainers supposed to teach during their training period? Should we as students expect to used as logbook or will we being running team with this person? I want to learn through doing and instruction. I don't want to have to drive will some lazy s.o.b takes a nap in the sleeper because I don't see that as training.

I'm sure each company has there own version of a training plan. Some of the experienced drivers can chime in and tell what they think should be covered. I don't think you should be playing team right off the bat. If that happens to me I will be asking for a different trainer pretty quickly. I think it would stupid for any trainer to put his life in the hands of a rookie, and take a nap. But, from some readings I guess it happens. I don't think I would mind it so much maybe 3/4 of the way through training. For me, I would kinda like being on my own but still have someone to ask a question. And, to get a feel for what teaming would be like.

Default OTR Training

Your trainer should have a printed curriculum with him that he follows daily. He should also have a "sheet" that both of you review not more than weekly so your progress can be seen. At the end of your training period you should have covered and be proficient in ALL aspects of manuevering the rig, paperwork, communications, the whole ten yards. BOL

Be prepared to not get it all done though....when I did my training it got real busy and they pulled me out after 3 weeks and assigned me a truck and load and off I went. I was supposed to be with my trainer another 2 weeks and we hadnt even started with trip planning.......

 What's the name of the company that did THAT so newbies can RUN, not walk, away from them!!! This should NEVER happen.
