The Walt Whitman is gone!!! That's horrible!! (You have noted the sarcasm there, right?) That place was a $hithole. Good Riddance.
The TA at Walden, Kentucky. I just didn't like their showers. That Pilot in Dallas, Texas, I know that one. We had the pleasure of being stuck at the Dallas Werner Terminal for 3 or 4 days. I heard all kinds of stories from the guards in the gaurdshack. People being jumps, shot, stabbed, found dead in their trucks. The entire terminal (quite large) was surrounded with fence with barbed wire on the top. Thank god they had a courtesy van, nobody had the balls to walk out of there. You come out of the shack, and there is a 4 way intersection, and there are pimps, ho's crackheads and drug dealers on the two corners that are not Werner's property. There was actually a guy who started chasing the van when we were leaving the shack. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there. Now the flying J down the road isn't that bad. We were there and there was one of those "I have no money and I need too get to or my so and so is sick" stories.

TA in Gary. The waitresses don't talk to you, and if they do they look at you like you're a turd.
I threw my menu across the room and gave a few choice words after my waitress tossed a menu on another driver's tabler and walked away. No hello. No "what can I get you to drink". Seems like the ghtto girls wanna talk talk talk in the back. Same with the cashiers. Try paying for your pepsi and bag of chips- once the cashiers end their conversation. Don't expect a hello, but DO expect them to keep talking. The pilot on 20 got a loud scene when this cashier couldn't answer my question- "how many gallons for a free shower" and I kept getting I dunno, its $9". After asking three times, band it was getting mad because each response from the cashier was bitchier than the last. Not even a " I can find out for you", just "its $9" over and over.....

the flying J just a few miles further east on 70 just past that T/A makes that T/A look like a palace . I rember stopping at that Flying -J to get fuel and having to do one tank at a time ,and then going in to get a shower ,And deciding my shower could wait until I got into Amirillo .

I've heard mention the truck stop at exit 157 on i-55 in joliet IL...even the fuel islands look like $#!+ and be careful if you do fuel there because they are slick..... some of the food is tolerable though the truck city truck stop in Detroit off of i 94 ...didn't sleep a wink...restaurant closes at 7:00...bums everywhere and if your not alert they steal the steps right off your truck..... they also steal all your chains binders and tarps... the Gary Indiana t/a is a winner...but i hear they are trying to clean it up a bit... but a couple i haven't heard yet are the flying j and the pilot on the bottom of the loop in Indianapolis in or the pilot in Memphis tn The Pilot at Exit 4........well, it took over for the old Bud's T/S when it was shuttered, and subsequently tore down and replaced by Mr Fuel. Doesn't help the Pilot much with that fleabag dive motel next to it, not to mention the bar.....the Investment Lounge.....LOL.... I've yet to see mention of the Buckhorn T/S in PA.....is the "Mad Sh*tter" still up to his shenanigans? What possesses a man to scribble on bathroom walls with his own waste is far beyond me......

So you have not seen the Swift Fontana Terminal huh? Drivers get a POS drivers lounge with a table screwed to the ground (seems like) and 4 folding chairs. Not to mention the bathrooms are portables that have floods because people don't know how to unclog toilets. That is a dive to beat all dives.
