S10 and Super 10 tranies

S10 and Super 10 tranies
I just talked to a school I am thinking about going to. They told me their trucks have s10 and super 10 tranies. Are these good enough to learn on?[/img]

I assume by S10 they mean straight 10. Learning a straight10 and a super 10 is perfcet. I'd venture that 98% of the companies that a rookie might hire on with use one or the other. Knowing how both work will also give you a better understanding of how other transmissions work, which will allow you to adapt quickly to anything that might get thrown your way (except for the very rare twin stick trannies, but unless you plan on hauling gravel in a 30 year old Mack or running a show rig for an O/O I highly doubt you'll ever see a twin stick.)

I used to have a 4wheel drive S-10. It was so light,I never got it stuck. It just floated,and skidded across the mud holes. Got good gas milage,too. :P

 A straight 10 is a good tranny, easy to learn on and shift. A Super 10 is a pain in the keester and should be permanently banned from trucking! When I drove for Werner the Freightshaker Century Class I had had a Super 10 and I hated it! When I drove a straight 10-speed I could slip those gears in smoother than a baby's butt. 8)

Rat Thanx. I have seen other post that folks were trained on different tranies then the comp[anies were looking for. Again thanx.
Rabbit that's what you get for owning one of those bowtie things ( Right now I own one of those things  ops: but one day I will own a real truck :lol

The place I just started with has trucks with both Super & Straight 10's. I pray when they assign me the truck on Monday that it's a Straight. I hate the Super's...
That's just my preference though. A lot of people like the Super's.
