Hello all, I had a quick question for you guys. I have a ton of CD's that I like to listen to, and I would really love to be able to listen to them when I start driving. I have heard/read that most trucks, even newer ones, don't come with a CD player built into them. My question is, would one of those CD/Tape adapters work well (without bouncing around and skipping a lot) or not?
If this wouldn't work, are there any simple alternatives without having to get a CD player installed? Would plugging a boom box into your 12V work well? I know this might sound stupid, but I would really hate to have all my CD's go to waste. Any advice here is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Tom

Buy a FM transceiver. It plugs into your headphone jack on your portable CD player and you then tune into a preset FM station to listen to your music. Some are battery powered and some have AC adapters. Go with the AC power or you will be buying a lot of batteries. Plus the signal is stronger with AC power.

Shouldn't cost more than $30 for the whole thing. kc0iv

I have been spending alot of time recently at my local KW dealer and had noticed that every truck had a cd player in it. I think it is becoming the "new" standard radio.
Thinking back when I ordered my new truck a couple of months ago, a cassette player was not even an option if I recall correctly.

Go to walmart and buy your self a cd player (In dash type) and install it. Most walmarts sell the adapter kits also so it is all easy to plug in. Remove the old one. Install the adpter plug, install new radio and listen to your cd's almost the cheapest way to go. They have cd players for 70 and the kit is 13 under 100 and you have the set up. plus if you switch trucks just remove your radio and install the factory radio.

Slider but you need to get permission from somone in the shop or teminal to do this. they can come back on you for not getting permission since you are messing with the electronics of the truck.. like TMC for instance will not allow you to install a CB in your truck. they already have one and do NOT want you messing with anything electronic or hard wired. |
