Odd, I never heard another word about it. 8)

I have torn down many phone and cable lines while spreading gravel in alleys and such. In all of these cases the lines were only about 12 feet off the ground. The worst part is that the lazy bastards put the lines back in the exact same spot rather than raising them to the proper height. You guys are going the flame me for this but, sometimes I tear them down out of spite because of them not raising them. Maybe after they have to replace the same line about five times, they will get the message and put them at the correct height.

Have seen it happen around here in the summer when its really hot and the lines sag, and also in the winter from the snowpack building up the height of the street combined with the snow/ice also causing the lines to sag. And as Rev pointed out, it's always been the phone or cable companies lines that get snagged. Besides hanging them wherever they want to,they have a habit of "piggybacking" them around here also, which only adds to the weight

All in a day's work for a P&D driver!
I took out 3 power lines on a street 2 weeks ago. Knocked another one out behind a gas station last month when I was deliverying a pallet of parts to a car wash. Snapped a phone line at a Lube Stop quick-change joint last summer. Nearly took another one out going down a residential street during a big snow storm last week. My trailer just tapped it and I watched it bouncing in my mirrors as I kept rollin. My all-time personal best was 7 cable lines down in the ghetto! Needless to say, I didn't stop for that one!!

everyone is saying 14 feet, most city regulations across america is 16 feet for cable/phone and 20 feet for high voltage powerlines, and that is a minimum rating most are alot higher than that... just imagine you bought one of them bus/rv's that are 14 feet tall, you couldn't take it home....luckily I live in a old part of town and the wires are way above 14 feet and I can drive home...how does the big trash truck drive down your street? some of them are as big as trucks tall wise and weigh more than 10 tons....most signs where I live say 'no trucks over 8 tons except city vehicles' hehehehehe guess the city can do it but no one else can huh...

I doubt any RV manufacturer would ever be damn fool enough to sell one that is over 13'6"...most RVers aren't smart enough to watch for the height they DO have....saw one on a back street pound a 10 foot bridge...boogered up his $100k RV pretty nice....
I stopped to see if I could help, asked him if he saw the sign...clearly marked this one was.....and he said yes but he didn't think he was that high!!! oh well As for the A/C units on top....manufacturer would be responsible to ensure that the sold height was not over 13'6"...otherwise that RV will need a permit for most places!! Now, those fancy sat TV and internet domes (gonna get me one of them thar setups soon too!!!)...IF the RV were high enough and the added height (looks like some are 24" or better) puts them over 13'6"...at least around here, they would get an expensive lesson about low clearance the first time they smash that $2000 dome on a bridge!!!
