their a great company for you to start out with if your a new driver pay for new drivers is not bad not great. in the mid range for exp drivers.
miles r good . they r a safe for you to start out with. they have a nice terminal in gary. trucks r ok if you get a decent one.
like any large carrier they have alot of rules.

Datdam, I work for Roehl right now. I started in November 2005 and quit in June 2006. I returned with them in September 2006 and am still currently with them.

The good and bad, well it depends on what u think is important. For a starter company I would definately start with them instead of some of the others. Home time is very good. I am a national driver who is basically on a regional schedule. I pick up in either NH or NY (where i live) on sunday or monday and run to Florida. Find a run back north and I am usually back home for the weekend. Was not always like that but thats how I am being run.

I average about 2700-3200 miles a week. Get home when I want to. The pay for starters is not bad. Roehl is on a big kick right now about driver retention and are avidly working with drivers to keep them.

Safety is important and they will hold you accountable for logbooks, safety and etc.

Building a relationship with your dispatcher is extremely important. Without this you will get crap runs, so be cool with dispatch.

Equipment is decent. I picked up my truck last year which was a 2006 freightliner with 70 miles on it. When i quit and came back I got another 2006 Freightliner with 87,000 miles. Kinda weird cause I turned in my old truck with 70,000 miles. They do have Internationals and those are the ones the new drivers are getting. The new trucks were being handed out to new drivers and the old timers were getting mad so you would probably getting an older truck.

Well those are some basics for you to start. I would recommend you look at roehldriver.com. This website is put on my drivers who work for Roehl and not by Roehl. Theres is good and bad there so be impartial to what you read. What you may think is unimportant, another driver may think is pertinent.

If I had to do it all over again. I think I made the right decision even after quitting due to their negligence in a situation which made me leave. One piece of advie besides beign friendly with dispatch is ask to not be idspatched out of Gary. They are in a rebuild process right now.

Hope that helps. If you have any more questions PM me if you want
