Default Taking the plunge

I am looking to go to Johnston C.C. to receive cdl training. Anyone been to this school or have any thoughts on this. I am 24 years old married with 2 kids and I have talk to my wife about this. I have been unemployed since I quit my job of 2.5 years will this hinder me from becoming a driver. I am hoping to get a local gig. But if I don't that will be fine to just so as I get my 1 year experience and move on. And if it matters I would like to do flatbedding.

When I was getting my CDL in'96, I almost went through them. I heard a lot of good things in general about the school back then. Sure a lot cheaper than the commercial schools.

There's a better chance of getting an OTR gig than a local one, and there are some flatbed companies that should get you home most every weekend. There's a small company out of Wilson called Forbes...dry box and flats. Pays percentage. Not big money, but you'll be home every weekend as their terminal is closed after the last driver arrives Saturday and stays closed until Sunday around noon (again, that's the way it was when I worked for them about 7 years ago).

Good luck!

Gimmie a shout if you have any questions on TMC flatbed. We're home every weekend too. Check out my website below for what I do here and call if you have any questions!
Good Luck to You

Thanks Fred. I might just do that. I seen a TMC truck go through Ellerbe today on 220 south. And I said I think I am going to try them. I am currently out of work taking care of the kids. I have been out of work since July so I don't know if that will look bad or not. I was at my last job for 2.5 years. And didn't quit on good terms. So I hope this don't look bad to.
