Hello all,

I have a question about MVR records. I had my license suspended in 92. I failed to file an accident report after a hit and run accident. I called police filled a report with them at the seen of accident. A year later i was pulled over and was informed i was driving on a suspended license. So I received a ticket for that. My MVR since 97 is spotless. My question is if companies only require a 5 year MVR report, Or do they go back further?
My MVR form 92-97 isn't so hot. Been on this forums and other investigating if i should attend school but don't want to waste time if i wont be hired due to my past MVR. Oh that hit and run i wasn't the one who ran. Really interested in the trucking industry done my homework for months please help with answers.

Stevens pulls a 7 year MVR. Most only pull a 5 year max. Some pull only a 3 year.

If you have any problems with the BIG companies, try medium size or smaller ones. They are less picky.

Are there any felonies involved? If not.... you could call a company you don't want to work for and tell them what all is on your record and see what THEY say.

From what you say, I doubt that there is enough on your record, or that it will be seen, to keep you out of trucking. If you still are worried, look into a company that trains you for your CDL with a year or so obligation. I doubt they would send you to school if they couldn't put you to work.

I don't see a real problem if you have told us all there is to know.

Some, but not all, go back 10 years. Even so, many states only keep things on your MVR for 5-7 years. It would be in your best interest to obtain a copy of your MVR and see what is really on it.

Your welcome, and the Rev is also probably right, to a point. I, personally, don't know of one that asks for a 10 year MVR, but some might.

Point is, it only costs a few dollars to go to your insurance company and get an MVR. You could ask for a 5 year or a 3 year. Maybe they have one for a longer term. But, go and get an MVR yourself before applying.

My company ONLY wanted a 3 year, so I had to ask my insurance company for JUST THAT! Some companies JUST DON"T WANT TO KNOW more than they need to. Remember, there is a driver shortage, and they only have to satisfy the requirements of their insurance companies.

But, it would be smart for you to go get your OWN copy of your MVR for 5 years to see what is on it before applying to companies.

I really don't think you will have a problem though, and if trucking is what you want to do, I believe MANY doors will be open to you! Good luck! And have FUN!

Anyone know how long it takes for a Virginia speeding ticket to show up on your NC driving record?
A friend of mine with a NC CDL was convicted of speeding in Va., 83 in a 65. He was in a 4 wheeler. That was 5 months ago. Thanks.

Why doesn't you "friend" pull a copy of his record and see what's there? 18 MPH over, that should be interesting. BOL

Most carriers pull a copy of your MVR annually. You will be sent a letter every year to disclose any ticket you received during the year. They will check your responses with your MVR. You are supposed to report any tickets to their safety department when you receive them. If you want a copy of your MVR you should be able to get one locally at your licensing office.

Thanks. I should've made it clear. His mvr has been pulled, as recently as last month. Va has still not reported the conviction to NC.
The question is: Does anyone have any idea how long it might take Va to report to NC? If yes, how long? If no, peace & thanks again.

Yes your local DMV can give you a copy of your MVR. Ask them how far back they report when companies pull your MVR. I was told when I got mine before looking for work that the certified copy they'll give me will have EVERYTHING ever on it, but they only report the last 3 years to companies that pull it. This will vary by state obviously.
