Fancy Gap part 2
#1
Anyone planning on going over Fancy Gap in VA on I-77 in the next 24-48 hours, find another way around it. Notices' have already been posted that winds are blowing at a high rate of speed and that motorists should attempt the crossing with much caution or not attempt it at all. Weather reports are that tonight thru tomorrow is that it will be very windy across VA with gusts in the lower elevations as high as 40 mph.

I'm sitting in Athens, GA with 43k in the box. My truck is getting bounced around like it's a toy.

I came down Fancy Gap last night. It was pretty windy, but not nearly as bad as I have seen it before. Luckily I had a 53 instead of wiggle wagons. i wonder what the windchill was with a 40 mph wind and temp of 14. Does that qualify as butt cold at that point?

been from denver to cheyenne with a crosswind at 60mph, they closed the road after 5 trucks were blown over, I seen them on their sides and could barely barely stay on the road myself and made it too truckstop where I heard they closed the road, had sand in truck the next day all over the floor and dashboard and in the bed, my gross was 79200 and that i think saved me, all the other trucks that fell over were empty. All night my truck I kept thinking was going to tip over it blew so hard. They said average was 60 mph and gust up to 90 mph, that was the worst I been in.. I have never seen the wind not blow going down the I-80 in Wyoming. Always been windy rainy and snowing evertime I been their and I do it at least once a month sometimes 3 times. So if you like wiind and bad fuel milage run the 80 in Wyoming.
