A friend and I showed up for orientation today. We want to run team. We have been driving local for about 7 months.
Anyway, he's got a bum back and didn't pass the physical. Said he shouldn't lift more than 30 lbs; company requires 50. He's got a lawsuit going so can't just lie. We both had to go out for 5 weeks for training but how limited is he going to be to get a job? I see a lot of companies advertising 98% no touch, so it shouldn't be a problem I assume. We are in Florida. I won't drive team with anyone else, so I'd like to find a place we can sign on to. Thanks for any and all help.

With a 30 lb restriction it is going to be very difficult. It can take a lot more than 30 lbs of force to get a 5th wheel or trailer tandems to release, which is one reason trucking companies will indicate 50 or mor lbs.

"98% no touch, so it shouldn't be a problem I assume." Bad assumption. Think, for a big company, 4000 loads a day, what's 2% of that? Do the math, it's 80 loads. Somebody's gonna get that load so someone will be dealing not only with a recalcitrant landing gear or moving boggies, but also the unloading. Do you feel lucky? BOL
