Default Can't lift more than 30 lbs

A friend and I showed up for orientation today. We want to run team. We have been driving local for about 7 months.

Anyway, he's got a bum back and didn't pass the physical. Said he shouldn't lift more than 30 lbs; company requires 50. He's got a lawsuit going so can't just lie.

We both had to go out for 5 weeks for training but how limited is he going to be to get a job? I see a lot of companies advertising 98% no touch, so it shouldn't be a problem I assume.

We are in Florida. I won't drive team with anyone else, so I'd like to find a place we can sign on to.

Thanks for any and all help.

With a 30 lb restriction it is going to be very difficult. It can take a lot more than 30 lbs of force to get a 5th wheel or trailer tandems to release, which is one reason trucking companies will indicate 50 or mor lbs.

Default No Touch

"98% no touch, so it shouldn't be a problem I assume." Bad assumption. Think, for a big company, 4000 loads a day, what's 2% of that? Do the math, it's 80 loads. Somebody's gonna get that load so someone will be dealing not only with a recalcitrant landing gear or moving boggies, but also the unloading. Do you feel lucky? BOL

Not trying to be a smart azz, just facing reality here...........looks to me, you'll either be driving by yourself or not at all if you won't team with someone else, there are too many others willing to do what you will not..........good luck to you, I just don't think the company you are looking for even exist.

Just so you'll know I know how he feels............I just had a major Hernia operation...........I won't be able to lift over 10-15 pound for the next 6-months......I was told on Tuesday.

truckdriving is worse for your bac after awhile then most other occupations. a study found truckdriving to be the most backbreaking occupation with a note that hauling tankers is the worst of it.
