Recruitment didn't take long for us because we called them while Jeff was still in school so they were waiting on him to tell them when he was coming to orientation.

Thanks, all
Do you get you CDL the same day you take and pass all the test. For you Texans, is this how it works? Or do you get a paper copy with the hard copy mailed in two to six weeks?

Pappa Jake, Jeff went to Iowa from PA. He decided to drive it instead of taking the bus. I have heard a few bad things about the S. Carolina training but I don't know first hand if Iowa is better.

terrylamar, Jeff got his license the same day that he took the test. They just reprinted it for him.

Fred, I will be waiting to hear the details. Let us know how it goes.

terrylamar,

Passed my road test, inspecter gives u 2 special stickers on the permit, then you go to DMV get a hard copy. Of this is in NJ.
Now the phone is ringing off the hook. Werner, Watkins/Shepard, Swift, Scheinder, I lovin' it. But I'm going to the best TMC.

The process took a couple of weeks when I did it as a newbie.
Now you want to join the ranks of the RECRUITERS,whats up with that? I knew you would not make it a year. There will probably be a lot of other guys on here giving you $hit about it too.So I figured I would be the first.

Default Finished at Des Moines, Third week in truck

Well I got done with my Orientation in Iowa and have been on the road for three weeks with my trainer. I have to tell you all that the securement and tarping is not nearly as bad as it was made out to be. How ever I do see that with the HOS and TMC getting a little stricter with the logging procedures it will be harder to get five loads a week done. The big hurdle is either the 14 hour clock or the delays I have seen at the shippers which have been from 2 hours to 6 hours after a 2-3 hour bounce. This eats up the 14 hour clock and will start to eat up our earnings. It may end up being better to drop and hook a box van and actually drive 11 hours at XX cents per mile.
Does any one have any feelings about this or how to make it work better? Will the frieght prices go up due to the HOS restrictions. My trainer has had trouble recently getting 4 grand to the truck each week.
