GMAN, if you can, look up the New York Daily News. Writer Shaun King has a big article and supposed court documents from that sexual assault way back 20 years ago. It is an unbelieveable read at the apparent lengths both UT and the Manning family went to to both hide it and then destroy this lady. If those documents are legit, and they certainly appear to be as certain items are redacted as still sealed and confidential............holy cow his legacy is tarnished. Had it not been covered up at the time by the school, he is not a top pick and who knows what happens to his future career. Possibly even destroyed the future of a teammate who refused to lie by kicking him off the team and pulling his scholarship. It is disgusting if true, but seems typical of the Phil Fulmer era at UT.

I read something earlier about Manning and that he was named in a lawsuit filed against UT. According to the article, Manning "mooned" a girl (or woman) when he was a student at the university. To me, that isn't sexual assault. Sexual assault is where you attack someone and rape them. I think that the term "sexual assault" has been thrown around way too much were it has lost credibility. Using words or mooning someone is an assault. It is a stupid prank that has gone on well before I was a kid. Back then, we would not have even thought about it being called an assault or gotten the authorities or considered a lawsuit.

I don't know the particulars about the Manning case, but this is a lawsuit against the university and concerns them not being as aggressive as the complaintant would have liked and is over a long period of time. I will try to find the article. Thanks.

The mooning incident is the same one, it is all one, lawsuits and all. The student was actually a very well respected professor and trainer. An assistant coach tried to coerce a witness to say it was a mooning incident towards another teammate. That witness refused to play along and ended up losing his scholarship and was kicked out. Under oath, he corrobarated the trainer's story. They then tried to coerce the trainer by threatening her job. Asked her to pin it on a black player, possibly the same one who was subsequently kicked out for not agreeing to lie. Asked her to do that and she could keep her job, she refused that too.

If it was just mooning someone, I don't see how that could be considered sexual harassment. It is in bad taste, but unless some sort of body touching was involved, I don't see how it could be called sexual harassment. I think that unless someone is sexually assaulted or touched that it should not be considered sexual harassment.

It wasn't a mooning incident though, that version is a lie per the court documents released. He Tea-bagged her, stuck his crotch in her face while she was attempting to check his foot for a possible fracture. In the words of the witness, it was a disgusting act during a serious situation and no mooning took place as claimed by the assistant coach or Manning. He had his ding aling on top of her head and was rubbing his balls in her face, tea bagging. Afterwards, Manning and his father started calling her vulgar names and claimed it was HER who was the vulgar one. 100 witnesses were called, none of them ever heard the trainer speak vulgarly, none of them ever remembered Peyton's version of a trip to Charlottesville, Va either.

Actually we are speaking of separate incidents, nearly 20 years apart. UT is currently in litigation over a sexual assault by football players in 2014. At least 5 women have joined this current case. The lawsuit is saying UT covered it up and even went after a football player who helped the girl in the 2014 one.

The Manning incident was completely different and was already settled in 2003. It is now coming back to light after 13 years for whatever reason, maybe the trainer is seeking revenge? They destroyed her life, she was dumped by UT for not playing ball, couple of years later she was dumped by a Florida school after an anonymous letter showed up at the school. Then he releases a book with Archie where they both trashed her. Yeah she got some money out of it, but she has not been hired as a trainer since her last firing.

Congratulations guys you have managed to turn a thread about football into a political thread, some things never change
